55This is a magical space for pups and their people. Lots of parking available, gate and fence secure, there are dogs nearby in a separate area, bring your own doggy bags. Tony has plans to install a picnic bench and disposal cans. My two pups and I had a lovely, safe walk in the woods in this special space. We’ll become members soon. Thank you Tony!Stasia F.

55Super great place! I one of my dogs is dog reactive and doesn’t have reliable recall. It was amazing to let her run around the woods safely. You can definitely hear other dogs and in some parts see them but over all they weren’t much of a bother. The fence ok but I couldn’t see the bottom because of the snow. Might not hold an escape artist. Madison G.

55Amazing spot! So rare to find 5 securely fenced acres. My girl loves to sniff the perimeter for weak spots and she found none. Other dogs will be seen and heard, but my dog-reactive dogs were still able to relax and have fun.Carolyn F.

55This is a great spot to let dogs roam. There are dogs in pens nearby that will bark at them part of the time, but my dogs didn't care at all. Too much to smell and room to run. Fencing is good. Only issue was this was my first time and I wasn't 100% sure I was in the right spot. Finally, realized it had to be the spot, but a little sign right at the gate would be super helpful. Will definitely be booking again.Miriam F.

55Brought my two dogs and my friend brought her dog as well. We cannot wait to come back!!!!! The dogs had the time of their lives. It gave us time to work on recall and helped with working on distractions (dogs barking in the background) My dogs were tired after 30min of running and smelling. Highly recommend😊Macy B.

55Tony was very friendly. It was easy to park right in front of the spot! We did hear other dogs barking throughout the visit and could see them through the fence (two layers, the one around the Sniffspot and the one around their kennels) at different points, like the gated entrance area. So I wouldn't recommend this as a first-time visit for a dog who really struggles with either fear- or frustration-based reactivity — BUT if your pup can handle other dogs within view on occasion, it's an incredible fenced-in area with plenty of room to roam. Lovely little trails to follow. The woods are just beautiful!Haley Y.

55A wonderful place!! Took my 14 year old corgi mix for her birthday today and it was safe and accessible to her as a dog with sight problems, hearing problems, and spinal degeneration. A great place for a sniff walk and we will be back againSam E.

55Such a beautiful and well thought out area, like taking your dogs on a hike off leash but you don’t have to worry about them getting away or running into other dogs. A great opportunity to build value for recalls! Also super cool that there’s a frisbee golf course inside so the humans can do something while the dogs run around. Only thing I would say is if you have very reactive dogs we did hear a bit of barking from the boarding area, but didn’t bother me! Madison E.

55This was a fantastic little spot to let your pups run! The fence is great and your pup won’t be able to dig out or anything. It is a dog boarding place so there were dogs around. They didn’t come up to the fence, we could just hear them. Something to consider if you have a reactive dog. One of our dogs is reactive and this was a great space to do some training. It was great because he could hear the dogs and one place he could see them, so it was just a really great opportunity to practice our commands around distractions. However, if the sound of dogs barking upsets your pup, this is something to take into consideration. Emory B.

55Baxter and us had a pawsome adventure exploring the expansive 5-acre wooded dog park! It was such a relief to let him romp off-leash while we followed the scenic trails, winding through clearings adorned with charming old stone walls. The double-gated entry and secure fence provided complete peace of mind, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy the moment. We can't wait to return.Jim B.

55Really incredible spot. We’re training our pup (4 months) and this spot is perfect to practice off leash walking. There was a lot of barking from nearby dogs so be aware of that if your dog is reactive or fearful, but that was also good exposure/training for us and didn’t bother our pup at all. Our boy Zuko had a blast, we’ll definitely be back! Mackenzie R.

55Not reactive dog friendly
This place butts up against 2 dog kennels, so if you have a reactive dog I wouldn’t recommend brining them here. Saying that, if you have a friendly dog and one who can turn away and ignore the doggy distractions this is an amazing place to bring them! The area was clean with good walking trails! The fence did come off the ground in some places enough a determined dog could get under, and one of the gates was open(probably the wind) so if you don’t have a dog with good recall then walk the fence line first. Will definitely be back Jasmine P.

FAQ about our Penobscot dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 91% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Penobscot area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 6 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 3 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby.
