Wynshire Woods Dog Trail In Whitmore Lake

🌳🌲Welcome to Wynshire Woods! 🌲🌳 We feel so blessed to call this property our home, and would love for others to experience the beautiful nature we get to enjoy each day. Wynshire Woods includes over a mile of trails, fallen trees to sniff, hills to climb, and ravines to explore. Our 49 acre property is nestled in the woods, 1/4 of a mile off of the road with parking near our metal barn at the bottom of our driveway. We have over a mile of beautiful trails through hills and trees, with a short and long trail option. The long trail is about a mile long and takes 40-60 minutes to walk. The short trail is closer to 1/3-1/2 miles and takes around 25 minutes to walk. Take a break at the top of the first hill and relax in the hammock, taking in the peaceful nature around you. This is a great spot to bring a snack or picnic! We hope your dog(s) enjoy all the sights, sounds and smells throughout the woods- we have wild turkey, deer, many small wild animals to see, and and have him/her/them go home tired, satisfied and happy. This is a completely unfenced property. We ask that all dogs are leashed or have a training collar for recall, as wildlife and farm animals are abundant on our property. Dogs MUST be safe with free range chickens and ducks i.e. NOT chase/hurt them. Part of the trail does go past our fenced goat area. We do have 4 dogs who are contained to an invisible fence which does not have access to the trails. As long as your dog does not come into their area, there will be no other dog interactions on our property.

Such a great space! My dogs loved it. The water in the creek/river was the perfect play spot for my crew. Host was so nice. My dogs had a great time.

Very good communication and ease of use. Signs up which helped a lot. There was a very nice mowed trail that went along side a small creek with multiple spots for my dog to hop in. She had chairs out for sitting and water for the dogs. I could hear other dogs barking in the distance but it was faint. Ran into no problems and we enjoyed burning some energy! Will be back!

Super cute spot! Our dogs looovedd it. I also loved the layout and how secluded it was. It felt like a nature tunnel. Which kept the dogs in a line for us. Felt like we could really give our pups freedom and they loved that. Plus allll the smells. 🥰 The host also let us book super last minute which was so appreciated. As you can see from the pictures, two happy dogs! they're both sleeping in the back seat while I type this. The only animal we saw was one Turkey for like 2 seconds so no biggie!

My dogs loved it and that's why I'm giving it 5 stars, I feel like it was underwhelming for humans, I thought there would be a table by the water. But we made it work. Bug spray is a must.

A gem of a slice of property here. Beautiful river access. Lot’s of wildlife. Great communication, Worth the hour drive from Detroit area. Try a long line if your dog chases wildlife as we saw a lot of rabbits and chipmunks and spotted deer tracks.

Had fun with my three dogs. Two of the dogs are newer to us, and I don't think they've ever experienced any off leash free time outside of our yard. They had a great time. I did end up finding two "bonus" piles of poo out in the field that I picked up. It didn't detract from the experience for me or my dogs, but something for others to be aware of.

We stopped on our way home from a road trip up north. Close to the highway so a great pit stop. Grounds were clean and well taken care of. Will go back on future road trips.

Easy to find and access. Walked the fence line to make sure there were no gaps and the fencing was secure. My girl had a blast playing catch and walking with me off-leash. Thanks for hosting, we’ll definitely be back!

Nelson had a great time he loved how many birds were in the area! Only down side was the gate had a pretty big gap at the bottom that he wanted to try and escape from so I had my partner stand in front of it. (He’s still a puppy so he doesn’t listen the best right now due to excitement). But overall it is somewhere we will return!

Great spot. Not many distractions around. Fence was secure. Area was clean. I met a staff person who was very friendly. If you need seating, bring a chair, there’s no seating available.

This was the best time my dog has had in a long time. She used to get picked on when we went to the dog parks. Now that I can take her somewhere to play and she’s just with me is awesome! Everything was great. The booking was easy, the spot was clean and we felt secure. She had the best time and was asleep in the backseat before we pulled out of the driveway!! Thanks so much for making this available!!

This is my 3rd visit here. Property is clean and well maintained. Fencing secure. Lawn surface excellent for playing soccer and other ball games with my two boxers.

Great place! We take our dog here pretty often. The only downside is they have chains on the gates and not just a simple locked latch. It can sometimes make it a little difficult to open and close the gates but the huge area is worth it anyway.

Great open area for the pups to run. It was very wet and soggy, but that’s not the fault of anyone- just more of an FYI if you go visit.

FAQ about our Howell dog parks

Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 95% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Howell area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 141 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 23 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
