Alder trails SniffSpot

Our property is located off the Burn Road in Arlington and is 5 acres, 1 of which is fully fenced and there are about 3+ acres of woods that have a trails throughout that we are constantly trying to add onto. Access to the backyard will be through the double gates on the south side of the house. Access to the trails can be either gate along the back fence. We just ask that you close whichever gate you use upon entrance and exit. The trails currently are just shy of 1/4 of mile looping back to the gates of the fenced in backyard. We do have a seasonal pond in the woods that we plan on trying to expand access too (it’s a work in progress). The fence is 3.5 feet high split rail with chain link very secure, the back portion of fencing is strictly chain link same height but acts as a natural looking wild fence. Dogs can play ball, sniff around, and run off lease in the fenced yard. Dogs with good recall can be off leash on the trails and run throughout. We do have neighbors where our woods end that are mostly fenced but some do not have fencing (which is why recall is needed). There is no delineation between the neighbor to the north’s huge pasture area which would be off limits. Please enjoy yourself and let us know if you have any ideas to add to the property. The pictures were taken during the winter months, the property and trails are so much prettier during the spring through fall months. Thank you for stopping by.k

Hike up the mini forest

Our property is shy of 12 acres, 9+ acres of which we're sharing as a private off leash dog space or Sniffspot. The entrance is over the bridge where the creek is and 'From Creek to Back of Property' is all yours to explore. You may unleash your doggies right after the bridge and chain the gate if you want. Dogs might run down the creek for a splash or drink. Continue on to our family campground, there are picnic tables you could use. Then, up the hill you go to 'hike up the mini forest', free to roam around, listen to the birds, squirrels and other critters and sounds that nature brings you. You'll find seating areas while your dogs are at play, feel free to use them. Enjoy a picnic with your loved ones if you're up for it on one of the cabin porches or covered / uncovered picnic tables. The back of property behind fence is DNR land, so rest assured you’re on your own private little world with your furry buddies. The mini forest has some large walking paths and smaller trails scattered about, also some open meadows and is at a peaceful wooded setting. This is where I go to unwind and relieve my head of stress and worries. It’s my place of meditation, while my dogs sniff and romp around like crazy, do their zoomies and play hide n seek! *If you want to save a little bit of moolah, I offer membership. Forget about the gym, you'll get your exercise here with your dogs. If you are a member of my sniffspot, or have older dog/s and would like to drive below or up the hill to park so the fur buddy don't get exhausted, message me.* Some of you have asked about the cabins. Sniffspot is unavailable if Cabins are booked or vice versa. Booking is through Hipcamp (www.hipcamp.com). Name of listing: 'Grace E.'s Mini Forest Cabins'. Check it out by copying and pasting link below to browser or search listing through the hipcamp site. https://www.hipcamp.com/en-US/land/washington-grace-e-s-mini-forest-ex9hrrp8?shareid=1ddvuyvr3yh Anyway, hope you too will enjoy your little hike up our mini forest..

Woodland Tranquility Pathways - find solitude!

Off-grid Sniffspot location in rural Snohomish Washington! You will have the entire 5-acre property to yourself to enjoy! This part of our property is only used for Sniffspot guests. Would be perfect for those that don’t want to interact with others (i.e. cars driving by, strangers, the neighbors... ‘chatty hosts/property owners’😉). Safe place for adventurous individuals that prefer to explore alone with their doggo(s), a doggie daycare retreat, a memorable late evening of star-gazing, or a safe place for a highly reactive dog to have fun. Details: 5 acres, off-grid experience (no power or running water) with it’s own private entrance. Two grassy sloping yard areas with “Tranquility Trails” that loop up the hill. Secluded, native woodland with mowed grass. There are (overgrown) cottage style gardens. During your visit, feel free to pick blueberries, wild blackberries, apples or roses — or pull weeds — if that’s fun for you. 😉. This location is very relaxing. Plan for a couple hours or more to enjoy the quiet, rural lifestyle. TIP: if you have any concerns about your pup(s) going down the driveway, feel free to close the gate for added safety. Note: We are raising money to renovate the cottage located on the property by hosting a Sniffspot. Please do not explore inside the house, a roof collapse could happen before we can arrange for it to be replaced.

A walk in Dons woods

We have a number of wide moss covered walking trails through the woods. The property is fully fenced with wire fencing. But it is NOT dog proof fencing . There is a natural wide buffer between trails and fencing in most spots. The west side has privacy fencing, hogwire fencing on the North and a creek borders the Southend. . We have dogs on the property but they do not go venturing into the woods unless we are with them.

22 forested acres with private trails and an open field area located in the power line clearing. Includes private land access to state forest trails with views. Once you park you will see the trail entrance into the forest in front of you. Take the trail down to the creek. Water levels in the creek vary depending on the time of year. Cross the creek using the foot bridge and head through the forest. In about .3 miles you will come out into the powering clearing. Feel free to explore everything in front of you and to the left (north). There are several wide open grass spaces in the power line to play fetch or just let the dogs run and be dogs. If you follow the power line trail to the left, then follow it up the hill to the forest on the other side, there is another trail that enters the forest. This is all state forest and not easily accessible to the public. This trail will lead you to the top of the mountain on your right. Hiking this round trip will take about 2 hours. Approx 5 miles and 900 feet elevation gain. If interesting in doing this hike please ask me for details.

Enjoy this completely private dog park on over 5 acres of property on the beautiful Bacus Hill. To get here, follow google maps most of the way. When you see the mailboxes on the left (a little before where maps takes you), you'll also see an area where you can pull off and park. There is a maintained path that leads straight down to a bridge, once you are across the bridge, the entire open area is available for you and your dog to roam and explore. On the walk down, you will be able to see our house and our fenced yard with our dogs, but once you cross the bridge it will be private. A few warnings/disclaimers: 1. There is wildlife (bears, cougars, etc.) in the area. Use at your own risk. 2. The bridge has some (fairly obvious) broken/soft spots on the west side. Watch your step! 3. Beyond the open area to the east and south begins to get into other neighbor's property. It is not the end of the world if your dog goes there for a bit, but please try to keep them mostly in the open area.

Magical Mossy Forest

Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot is a large mystical woodland adventure for dogs in Redmond on the way to Carnation. Boots are recommended in the winter rain. MMF is preferred by puppies, dogs, people, adults and kids alike because it has potable water, power, picnic tables, chairs, several firepits, lit portapotties, 3 swing sets, 3 slides, monkey bars, 3 Forts, a log bridge to cross over Little Ames Creek for when the creek is flowing, a doggy playground, lots of picturesque moss, lighted parking lot, woodchip trails and many footpaths over 5 forested moss covered acres. Parking is near the road, separated by 100 ft of woods, so we suggest that all our doggy friends be leashed until they are on the trails with you. The parking area can only be located where it is to protect the ecology of Little Ames Creek. Please leash your dog until into the forest away from the parking area, after that Bob's Your Uncle! Watch kids and dogs in the parking area near the road, and at Ames Creek. A secluded place to dork out and have fun, enjoying a natural Pacific rainforest. Note that the creek is dry in midsummer until the fall and winter rains kick in. Boots are recommended in the fall and winter. Find a map of the main trails in a photo on our MMF Sniffspot site. There are lots of foot trails through the understory ferns. The log bridge can be used to cross Ames Creek, or you can ford it to discover the rest of Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot. Please pack out doggy bags with you because there is no garbage pickup here, please leave no trace. If there is a downpour and you want to wait it out there is a dry shed in the parking area. Access to power helps keep your batteries charged. Please carry your toilet paper (sorry it walks away). The portapotties are cleaned once a week. Please Note: 11/25/22- I’ve decided to open up the calendar for a bit to allow reservations with greater ease, but I do still ask that you message first in case someone related to our forest cleanup project is on-site. 10/1/22- At this time the property could be potentially available for your use, however, we are preparing for the forest cleanup project that we’ve been working towards with the DNR for over a year. If you are interested in visiting here, please message and if it works out I’ll be happy to accommodate you. 07/01/22- Important: The Sniffspot platform does not allow hosts the option to approve or cancel reservations, as such I have blocked my calendar to more easily control reservations. I often don’t know until last minute when the forest manager I’m working with for the DNR forest cleanup project is on-site, the logging will take place hopefully this winter. — This 21-acre forest with a large beaver pond is classified as a class-A wetland. In addition to this, you can find a shallow creek, beaver dams, old-growth forest, and phenomenal bird habitat. Find privacy and quiet with the exception of the songs of many birds and woodpeckers. This property was once a show home, but a fire took place over 10 years ago and the house was not rebuilt. While the ruins that remain are minimal, it sets an interesting backdrop; perhaps it can be the scene for a mysterious photoshoot. Within the property is a small orchard, we do ask to try to not let the pups do their business there. Spring 2022 Update: One picnic table have been added to the property.

55Love this open space, so close to home for us! So many interesting areas to explore, hills to run up and down, and woods to sniff. We’ll be back.

55Lots of trails, swampy. Our dog doesn't like water, but good practice for her to practice very small water crossings. We may have wandered off the property near the power lines, not sure.

55We were so happy to find this sniffspot 2 minutes from home. It is quite easy to find and navigate. Large open area and space for our 4yo and 10yo dogs to get some off leash excercise. Our dogs dont play "fetch" but perfect areas to throw balls and practice recalls. Some areas are extremely muddy so I would suggest you wear your boots. We did hear some gun shots in the distance but it didnt bother our younger one at all (which shocked us because she is extremely sensitive to gun shots and firework) We didnt stay the entire hour (almost though ) only because the older pup gets tired but we will definitely be back....alot! Host was super nice too! Thanks for sharing your space.

55This was our first time to Sniffspot and it was great. Nicole emailed us beforehand to let us know her husband was dropping off some dirt in the area. We had a chance to chat with him and he was really nice and informative. The area was spread out. The large, initial clearing was nice to play fetch, then we walked down a path to a small clearing and used that to place more fetch. There were some muddy spots, but that's to be expected in the PNW. It was all clean, accessible and we'll definitely be back. Thank you for hosting us!

55Great spot with lots of things to explore and sniff. The tree down currently is not difficult to walk over, especially for border collies, although small dogs or those with difficulty walking might have issues. The steep path up the hill is a workout and my dogs loved racing up and down it! If you plan to follow the power line trail, wear your muck boots - that was very muddy!

55One of the best sniffspots in the area! Be sure to bring your hiking boots and be aware of thorns when you enter the hilltop trail and big hill straight ahead. If you don’t want a challenge there’s plenty of space at the bottom. Nicole was kind enough to come down with her dog to tell me how to navigate the area and answer questions. My dog had so much fun he passed out in the car! Successful trip.

55This spot was perfect for my pup & family!  We got to hike up a nice hill & get Amos nice and worn out.  The terrain is not flat so best for athletic dogs who like a challenge.  Note for owners whose dogs are reactive to barking, I could hear a neighbor’s dog barking in the distance from time to time, which was fine for Amos but might be scary to dogs who can’t tolerate barking :)

55It was easy to find the place, following the instruction. It was so nice to explore this large property. Our dog enjoyed chasing balls in the meadow area off to the left. It looked like the path from the meadow kept going but it was really muddy so we turned around. It was peaceful and relaxing to be there! We did hear some dogs bark loudly in the neighborhood, which my dog did not really care about, but mentioning in case anyone's dogs are sensitive to that.

55I have a reactive dog and this spot was great! The owner of this sniffspot let me know you can hear dogs barking at their property, but the dogs were far enough away that it didn't phase my dog. The ferny uphill section was well groomed like a real hiking trail, though some other trails had very thick thorny vines my long lead got snagged on. I appreciated the trash can for poop bags near the entrance.

55This spot is great for dogs with good recall to just explore and sniff around! We spent the full hour just walking around enjoying the trails. It gets a little muddy/swampy in the lower trails but it wasn't a problem with boots and an inquisitive dog! We did hear barking from the neighbors, if your dog is triggered by that maybe not their spot.

55Beautiful country feel close by! The old maple trees, forested trails and lush green spaces are gorgeous to walk around. My doggies had huge smiles romping around, and our time was very quiet , we heard one dog bark in the far distance and an eagle screaming which was very cool. The old barn and horse outbuildings make me want to know more of the history of this property, a true hidden gem.

55Our pup had a great time! We booked for an hour which was perfect. The steep hill is no joke, but it was a great workout 😅 It was really quiet for the first part of our visit, but we did hear some dogs barking, and she got a little nervous, but we just walked back toward the start for a bit until she was able to calm down, so it ended up being good practice for her in a safe environment. We also saw what looked like a nice park on the way nearby if your dog can do parks and still has energy after 😊We will definitely be back!
