55This was my first time visiting any Sniffspot so I didn’t really know what to expect - other than what I read from other reviewers. I agree with the resounding majority that this is a wonderful spot to bring your beloved dog to play off leash. I am training an adolescent service dog and found the layout of the property to be wonderful for working on behaviors and skills - especially strengthening our recall. I was able to find tons of hiding places so that I could play hide ‘n seek with my boy which is excellent when ‘proofing’ recall. The circular landscape area provided a perfect island for us to play ‘chase me’ which also helps with recall training. There was plenty of shade which my dog appreciated, as he tends to run hot. He got a little muddy when exploring some of the nature along the perimeter by the water fountain because some of the property is dirt-based. Thankfully, there was a great garden hose with which to rinse him- which I appreciated. Parking was a breeze and although there isn’t a ton of grass for medium-high energy dogs to run around in… as I mentioned above, there is plenty of space within a fun layout to keep them entertained and get out some energy. Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers).
