This quarter acre, fully fenced play area is conveniently located on highway 316 just outside of Hastings, MN. Offering shade and sun, lots of repurposed items to climb on, and a variety of toys this is a great place to unwind with your dog.

The "Maplewood Farm" Dog Park (5-acres!)

Welcome to “Maplewood Farm” Dog Park -- a peaceful 5-acre nature escape in south Maplewood near Battle Creek, just minutes from I-94 and McKnight. This is still undeveloped farmland tucked into the suburbs, with rolling hills, mature trees, wooded trails, open field space, and natural wildlife. It has a different feel from a typical backyard spot and gives dogs a private place to run, sniff, explore, and decompress away from crowded dog parks. For history buffs, the property also has the only standing barn in Maplewood, built in 1896, still in its original form and in use. The main fenced play area is approx. 60 ft x 100 ft and is great for off-leash play, fetch, tug with the spring pole, and burning off energy. There is also a water-play area with a splash pad and above-head sprinkler/mister, plus a sprayer if you want to rinse or bathe your pup on the grass. Just outside the fenced area, I’ve added a cozy campfire seating area overlooking the dog park. Evening guests who book 1.5+ hours are welcome to use it at no extra cost when conditions allow -- a peaceful way to relax while your pup plays nearby. For a good visit, I recommend starting in the fenced area, then leashing your pup for a slower sniff walk around the rest of the property (imagine an entire city block). From the fenced area, you can follow the back gate into the wooded trail system, head toward the back cul-de-sac area, loop back toward the campfire area and barn, then continue through the mature forest trail. I’ve also installed several runner trolley systems along the trail for semi-free roaming, giving dogs a safe, guided way to sniff and explore under the trees. From there, you can circle back toward the open field. Signs are posted to help guide you. This is a natural, dog-friendly space, so dogs are welcome to explore, climb on log and wood chip piles, chew or pull on sticks, sniff around, and enjoy the property in whatever way feels safe and appropriate to you. I’m not precious about the landscape here. My priority is your pup having a good, safe visit. Best times to visit: mornings and early evenings are usually great for active dogs, especially during warmer weather. Afternoons can still be enjoyable with shade, water play, and wooded trails for slower sniff walks. Early evenings are one of my favorite times here -- you can enjoy the sunset, relax by the campfire, or unwind while your dog plays and explores. If I’m home, I may briefly welcome first-time visitors once your dog is safely in the fenced area. If you prefer a no-contact visit, just message me ahead of time and I won’t greet you. As a dog lover and builder, I’m always improving the space and adding more dog-friendly features. My backyard offers 2 acres of fully fenced forested area with over 50 trees within that area! We keep a trail mowed that loops down into the bottom of the yard so you have a comfortable walking trail and your 4 legged friends can use it as a racetrack! Tons of smells to sniff and ample room for zoomies! There are some stickers/burrs in areas of the yard. For winter months, the slope in the yard can get icy so please wear good shoes and be mindful. My chickens have free rein to the property when there are no visitors so there will always be chicken poop on the ground in some areas more so than others. Chickens will always be secured in their predator proof coop and run. There are toys, a garbage can, a dog bowl, and extra poop bags on the patio just before the wooden stairs. Please feel free to park in the driveway on the right side of the garage!

Read below for instructions.* The water is usually left ready to go, but the spigot on the side of the house is left off. To use it, open the valve on the side of the house by the driveway. Make sure the diverter that faces the backyard is open. When you leave, please shut it off again, it tends to drip otherwise. Thanks!

10 Beautiful Acres with River 12 minutes from Hudson WI

5/15/26 update: All paths are mowed, field entrance to drive in is now available (unless heavy rain, then their may be orange cones in the drive) In that case PARK only at the barn/field entrance and walk in. Traffic - To the spot the drive has no major road work slowing you down but LEAVING through Hudson can have long back ups. Please check your maps for delays or other routes. ***Also, it is tick season, do check your dog! This is a beautiful piece of land with a (mostly) fenced perimeter and 1/3 acre fully fenced doggy play area. If you drive in by the picnic table you are in the center of 18 acres to play on and will be quite a distance from the road. There are mowed walking paths to the beautiful Kinnickinnic river, far away from other people and animals. You and your dog will both love it here! The river is cold, clean and easy for dogs to hop in and out, also humans but a bit muddy at the easiest entrance. If you want to keep them out of the water there is about 10 acres of open field where you park, separate and above the river so you don't need to have them down by the water at all. (although most dogs gravitate to there!) Good idea to bring towels although some dogs dry off by the time they run back to the car! We love sharing the space, thank you for review pics!

Great spot with room to run, toys, some agility equipment, and seasonal plastic fur kid pool! Fully fenced: 1 side privacy fence, 2 sides chain link, and one side with the house and gate. Added FYIs: - Place bagged poop in the small garbage bin. 🗑️💩 - 8/13/25: FYI backyard neighbor is doing some updates on the home, it's possible that workers will be visible to you and your pups as they walk to/from their vehicle and a dumpster! 👷🏻 - Please do not allow pups to dig or to enter the small separately fenced garden. 🌱🪏 - If you remember, it helps to throw "fetch" in lots of different directions to spread out the "wear and tear." IF something goes over the fence, do please just let us know (we will contact the neighbor)--**do not** physically step over the fence (it causes fence damage) 🏡 🤳🏻 - "Same day" bookings will probably have the bedtime and morning 💩 from my pups since I routinely only pick up after work during warm months. If you book 24+ hours in advance I can squeeze in an extra poo pickup before work. - *WINTER I pick up weekly, weather-permitting, so might NOT be a great spot for pups who eat poopsicles--you know who you are! 💩 ❄️ 🐶 🍨🍦
