WEATHER ALERT: If you are checking the weather online check the Ferndale (98248) weather. The Bellingham weather stops at the Smith Road. My prevailing wind is from the South BUT I do get the cold NE wind from Canada. NOTE: This is an acreage area which formerly held dog events; barn hunt, earth dog, carting, rally, obedience, tracking and nose work. The off leash area was set up for the dogs to have a place to run and play safely away from the other dogs when not working. This is all sandy loam so no standing water even when it rains. There is a water faucet down by the smaller barn (west side). You are welcome to fill your dog's bowls. Just be sure you turn the water off after. I have put some folding chairs just inside the big door of the barn. You are welcome to use them. I have also put a shovel out there so you can fill in any holes your dog digs. It is important you put balls back in the crate, they do not do well under the mower (the mower doesn't like it either. Please fill in any large holes your dog digs, so my mower doesn't bog down in one. if you want a bit more room to run your dogs, you may close the 2 big gates and let your dog run in the "parking area". It is all fully fenced. Be aware, the big gate into the back pasture does have a gap under it. THE BACK PASTURE IS OFF LIMITS THERE IS LIVESTOCK BACK THERE! PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG EVEN IN THE BIG AREA. THANK YOU!!!

22 forested acres with private trails and an open field area located in the power line clearing. Includes private land access to state forest trails with views. Once you park you will see the trail entrance into the forest in front of you. Take the trail down to the creek. Water levels in the creek vary depending on the time of year. Cross the creek using the foot bridge and head through the forest. In about .3 miles you will come out into the powering line clearing. Feel free to explore everything in front of you and to the left (north). There are several wide open grass spaces in the power line to play fetch or just let the dogs run and be dogs. I will send you detailed instructions for the hike up the mountain upon request. This is a real hike and I recommend hiking attire. Please bring water for yourself and your dogs. The hike is about 3.5 miles and 800 feet of elevation gain. I recommend booking at least 2 hours to complete. If you want to hang out and enjoy the views you may want to book more than 2 hours.

Fallen branches, wildlife and other normal outdoor conditions may occasionally be present. 🐦🐿️ The lowest fencing is approximately 4 feet high. This field may not be suitable for dogs that can jump, climb or escape over a 4-foot fence. 👀 PRIVACY AND DISTRACTIONS Our family dogs do not enter the Sniffspot field during confirmed reservations. They may occasionally be seen or heard from our separate family yard or house. Dogs, people, cyclists, vehicles and other animals may also sometimes be seen or heard outside the property. This is a good option for dogs that benefit from private space but can tolerate occasional sights and sounds.
