Alder trails SniffSpot

Our property is located off the Burn Road in Arlington and is 5 acres, 1 of which is fully fenced and there are about 3+ acres of woods that have a trails throughout that we are constantly trying to add onto. Access to the backyard will be through the double gates on the south side of the house. Access to the trails can be either gate along the back fence. We just ask that you close whichever gate you use upon entrance and exit. The trails currently are just shy of 1/4 of mile looping back to the gates of the fenced in backyard. We do have a seasonal pond in the woods that we plan on trying to expand access too (it’s a work in progress). The fence is 3.5 feet high split rail with chain link very secure, the back portion of fencing is strictly chain link same height but acts as a natural looking wild fence. Dogs can play ball, sniff around, and run off lease in the fenced yard. Dogs with good recall can be off leash on the trails and run throughout. We do have neighbors where our woods end that are mostly fenced but some do not have fencing (which is why recall is needed). There is no delineation between the neighbor to the north’s huge pasture area which would be off limits. Please enjoy yourself and let us know if you have any ideas to add to the property. The pictures were taken during the winter months, the property and trails are so much prettier during the spring through fall months. Thank you for stopping by.k

Hike up the mini forest

Our property is shy of 12 acres, 9+ acres of which we're sharing as a private off leash dog space or Sniffspot. The entrance is over the bridge where the creek is and 'From Creek to Back of Property' is all yours to explore. You may unleash your doggies right after the bridge and chain the gate if you want. Dogs might run down the creek for a splash or drink. Continue on to our family campground, there are picnic tables you could use. Then, up the hill you go to 'hike up the mini forest', free to roam around, listen to the birds, squirrels and other critters and sounds that nature brings you. You'll find seating areas while your dogs are at play, feel free to use them. Enjoy a picnic with your loved ones if you're up for it on one of the cabin porches or covered / uncovered picnic tables. The back of property behind fence is DNR land, so rest assured you’re on your own private little world with your furry buddies. The mini forest has some large walking paths and smaller trails scattered about, also some open meadows and is at a peaceful wooded setting. This is where I go to unwind and relieve my head of stress and worries. It’s my place of meditation, while my dogs sniff and romp around like crazy, do their zoomies and play hide n seek! *If you want to save a little bit of moolah, I offer membership. Forget about the gym, you'll get your exercise here with your dogs. If you are a member of my sniffspot, or have older dog/s and would like to drive below or up the hill to park so the fur buddy don't get exhausted, message me.* Some of you have asked about the cabins. Sniffspot is unavailable if Cabins are booked or vice versa. Booking is through Hipcamp (www.hipcamp.com). Name of listing: 'Grace E.'s Mini Forest Cabins'. Check it out by copying and pasting link below to browser or search listing through the hipcamp site. https://www.hipcamp.com/en-US/land/washington-grace-e-s-mini-forest-ex9hrrp8?shareid=1ddvuyvr3yh Anyway, hope you too will enjoy your little hike up our mini forest..

Woodland Tranquility Pathways - find solitude!

Off-grid Sniffspot location in rural Snohomish Washington! You will have the entire 5-acre property to yourself to enjoy! This part of our property is only used for Sniffspot guests. Would be perfect for those that don’t want to interact with others (i.e. cars driving by, strangers, the neighbors... ‘chatty hosts/property owners’😉). Safe place for adventurous individuals that prefer to explore alone with their doggo(s), a doggie daycare retreat, a memorable late evening of star-gazing, or a safe place for a highly reactive dog to have fun. Details: 5 acres, off-grid experience (no power or running water) with it’s own private entrance. Two grassy sloping yard areas with “Tranquility Trails” that loop up the hill. Secluded, native woodland with mowed grass. There are (overgrown) cottage style gardens. During your visit, feel free to pick blueberries, wild blackberries, apples or roses — or pull weeds — if that’s fun for you. 😉. This location is very relaxing. Plan for a couple hours or more to enjoy the quiet, rural lifestyle. TIP: if you have any concerns about your pup(s) going down the driveway, feel free to close the gate for added safety. Note: We are raising money to renovate the cottage located on the property by hosting a Sniffspot. Please do not explore inside the house, a roof collapse could happen before we can arrange for it to be replaced.

Many acres of hilly wooded trails to get lost in and an active stream to get a drink from. You can wander for awhile and not cross over your own tracks. But try not to actually get lost. If you see a house, turn around. Watch for deer, coyotes, owls, etc. Long pants and closed toe shoes are recommended.

22 forested acres with private trails and an open field area located in the power line clearing. Includes private land access to state forest trails with views. Once you park you will see the trail entrance into the forest in front of you. Take the trail down to the creek. Water levels in the creek vary depending on the time of year. Cross the creek using the foot bridge and head through the forest. In about .3 miles you will come out into the powering clearing. Feel free to explore everything in front of you and to the left (north). There are several wide open grass spaces in the power line to play fetch or just let the dogs run and be dogs. If you follow the power line trail to the left, then follow it up the hill to the forest on the other side, there is another trail that enters the forest. This is all state forest and not easily accessible to the public. This trail will lead you to the top of the mountain on your right. Hiking this round trip will take about 2 hours. Approx 5 miles and 900 feet elevation gain. If interesting in doing this hike please ask me for details.

A walk in Dons woods

We have a number of wide moss covered walking trails through the woods. The property is fully fenced with wire fencing. But it is NOT dog proof fencing . There is a natural wide buffer between trails and fencing in most spots. The west side has privacy fencing, hogwire fencing on the North and a creek borders the Southend. . We have dogs on the property but they do not go venturing into the woods unless we are with them.

Enjoy this completely private dog park on over 5 acres of property on the beautiful Bacus Hill. To get here, follow google maps most of the way. When you see the mailboxes on the left (a little before where maps takes you), you'll also see an area where you can pull off and park. There is a maintained path that leads straight down to a bridge, once you are across the bridge, the entire open area is available for you and your dog to roam and explore. On the walk down, you will be able to see our house and our fenced yard with our dogs, but once you cross the bridge it will be private. A few warnings/disclaimers: 1. There is wildlife (bears, cougars, etc.) in the area. Use at your own risk. 2. The bridge has some (fairly obvious) broken/soft spots on the west side. Watch your step! 3. Beyond the open area to the east and south begins to get into other neighbor's property. It is not the end of the world if your dog goes there for a bit, but please try to keep them mostly in the open area.

Magical Mossy Forest

Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot is a large mystical woodland adventure for dogs in Redmond on the way to Carnation. Boots are recommended in the winter rain. MMF is preferred by puppies, dogs, people, adults and kids alike because it has potable water, power, picnic tables, chairs, several firepits, lit portapotties, 3 swing sets, 3 slides, monkey bars, 3 Forts, a log bridge to cross over Little Ames Creek for when the creek is flowing, a doggy playground, lots of picturesque moss, lighted parking lot, woodchip trails and many footpaths over 5 forested moss covered acres. Parking is near the road, separated by 100 ft of woods, so we suggest that all our doggy friends be leashed until they are on the trails with you. The parking area can only be located where it is to protect the ecology of Little Ames Creek. Please leash your dog until into the forest away from the parking area, after that Bob's Your Uncle! Watch kids and dogs in the parking area near the road, and at Ames Creek. A secluded place to dork out and have fun, enjoying a natural Pacific rainforest. Note that the creek is dry in midsummer until the fall and winter rains kick in. Boots are recommended in the fall and winter. Find a map of the main trails in a photo on our MMF Sniffspot site. There are lots of foot trails through the understory ferns. The log bridge can be used to cross Ames Creek, or you can ford it to discover the rest of Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot. Please pack out doggy bags with you because there is no garbage pickup here, please leave no trace. If there is a downpour and you want to wait it out there is a dry shed in the parking area. Access to power helps keep your batteries charged. Please carry your toilet paper (sorry it walks away). The portapotties are cleaned once a week. Please visit our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555379018442 Let us know if you have any questions. Synchronized play bowing to you!

55Ben’s property is a true dream. I never thought I’d be able to HIKE OFF LEASH with my two crazies. What a breath of fresh air and a blessing. My two big pups have never been able to experience a beautiful forest followed up with a beautiful pasture to fetch in. I’ll be coming back to Ben’s as long as it’s available 🥰❤️‍🔥

55This spot is great! Lots of space for the pup to run around and for the humans to get a small hike in. Trails are paved, but for comfort you'll want to wear good shoes and long pants. Parking was easy enough to find. The only thing we didn't realize was that there wouldn't be any trash facilities at the entrance/exit (we thought "pack away your own trash" meant just don't leave it in the park)...so you may want to either 1) bring some container/tupperware to trap any baggie smells or 2) pull off at Lord Hill Espresso to use their dumpster and get a drive-thru coffee like we did 🙂 Overall an awesome time!

55Another lovely day at the trail full of zoomies, sniffing, and sending pee-mail. Can't wait to experience it further into spring. The trail is always in good condition, well maintained, and hardly any mud. I was able to wear my normal shoes. I recommend bringing trail markers to help you find the way back to the exit trail. It's easy to get turned around your first couple times.

55Im not sure who enjoyed the hike more. Me or the dogs!! Bens slice of heaven is seriously such a beautiful land! The mossy Maples are very old growth. I loved seeing the native plants peeking up from the ground. Bleeding Hearts, Nettle and various ground covers. The trail is easy to see and a wet map was available to guide us up the trails. Our dogs played in dried leaves, dug a small holes smelling something. We stopped on the trail for a picnic as it was sunny and 60 * . For our dogs being reactive and not knowing what laid ahead and around corners- we kept them on long lines. There was a small cabin iff the side if one trail. So I expect one day people could be in it ? Unless its the owners or something. So again for reactive dogs… I read another review that mention “ cliffs” and worried their dog could have fallen. We only saw a steep gully that runs through the woods. I think any dog would’ve easily managed going down and back up. Ours attempted several times because they could hear the creek & really wanted water. So pack some up as the hike is steep and long. Perfect for all of us. One part of our journey we were so very excited to hear the Owls ! Its a very active time of year for them. So on 3 different times those Owls were doing spring things!!

55Well, wow. We have been to a few Sniffspots in the greater Seattle area and this is by far the most beautiful one that we have been to. Rusko had a great time exploring and running up and down the hills and trails. He is tired, which is saying something. As a human, I also had a wonderful time taking in the old-growth trees, ferns, moss, and overall beautiful scenery, while also getting a workout at the same time. This is the only Sniffspot we've been to where I took more pictures of the scenery than my actual dog. As others have mentioned, the trails are clean, extremely well-maintained, and easy to navigate. I was truly impressed. Thank you, Ben, for being so accommodating, maintaining the trails, and sharing your wonderful space with everyone.

55We had such a great visit today- easy location to find, lots of trails to explore and enjoyed the signs along the way reassuring we were not lost! We wondered multiple trails afraid of getting lost and pleasantly surprised to find ourselves coming out to a main trail every time. Just enough sun and shade made for nice walking and liked the transition from grassy to dirt to gravel trails, all kept up and made for easy accessibility. Some beautiful trees and stumps as well as a friendly gnome! We will definitely be back- thank you!

55This is a beautiful, well-maintained spot, and I'd highly recommend it. I should mention for those whose dogs are scared of engine noises (as mine is) that someone near the house fired up an ATV while we were there today, which meant that we had to cut our visit short by 30 minutes. But I've visited this spot several times before and have never encountered ATV noise before, so perhaps this isn't a frequent occurrence. This is still one of my favorite Sniffspots!

55This spot was awesome!! I have a reactive pup who I can’t really take on hikes, but this space gave us the opportunity to do our own little private hike! I have never seen my dog happier as he hiked up the trails (which were super well maintained and marked). If I lived closer I would come back here every week! Thank you so much for sharing a piece of your property to let me and my dog experience something I never thought we would together :)

55Beautiful huge area to explore. Lots of uphill, lots of grassy meadow, and a nice little stream. Easy to find. Pay attention to warnings about stinging nettles, even with long pants, socks and closed shoes I felt a little itchy after…however it was worth it. Will go back to explore more of the trails.

FAQ about our Everett dog hiking trails

Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars.
