Fun place for lots of sniffing and exploring. It’s a well defined area w/ lots of trees and bushes
Definitely bring some good shoes and balance as some spots get pretty bumpy Lauren Z.

55This is an excellent Sniffspot! Eric is also a great communicator and ensured that my reactive dogs and I were cared for. I absolutely recommend it, and will be going back!
I could hear dogs in the distance, but didn’t actually see any other dogs or people. Aneesah R.

55This tucked-away spot has a variety of options to keep your dog busy! There are trails in the back of the property, a lovely little pond for swimming, and a big field in the backyard for ball playing. The host was kind enough to warn that there may be mud, so I brought my boots, but I noticed they had laid out wood chips in a lot of the muddy areas, plus they provided towels. Very conscientious and kind! Lea H.

55This is an excellent Sniffspot. This space was very large and wide open with mostly one large hill and a flatter section at the bottom. The fencing is not super secure, but there is brush to delineate the perimeter. If your dog doesn't have a decent recall and you're concerned about your dog getting through the fence, a long line might be recommended.
Small dogs could definitely get under parts of the fence if they wanted. The space is set off the road, so none of the perimeter is on a road, which is really great peace of mind.
The grass was not too long. On the flatter section at the bottom of the hill there was a bit of standing water in a few spots, but nothing you couldn't walk through with good boots. And to be expected this time of year (winter).
Katie was very communicative and helpful! Jessica N.

55This place is great! I was a little confused on where to go upon arrival but figured it out quickly. We didn’t check out the creek bc the host politely told me the water was high and knowing my dog, he’d jump in and get swept away but the field was fantastic! I lucked out and had extraordinary weather for this time of year. The field is open and it has a great hill which was perfect for wearing out my dogs! My dogs have decent recall so they did get out of the fencing at one point but they came right back in, if your dog is an escape artist be wary of that. The bottom of the hill was pretty wet so just make sure you wear boots. But altogether it was a great experience and I’m looking forward to going back. Christina H.

55My dogs loved this sniffspot! Miss Molli loved the “canoe pool” and Ella-girl had a great time just rolling around. Molli did spot the horses, and I was worried about her going under the old gate that looks like it leads to their pin, but she’s very well trained with “leave it” (she has such a high prey drive that “leave it” is a necessity) but I just kept her away from that area and didn’t let her try to go under. Also, wasn’t sure how to latch the entrance gate? But I’m creative, so I jerry rigged a way to keep it closed. I will admit, there could have been a latch that I didn’t see, but my dogs were so excited to get off leash and smell the smells, that I didn’t look too hard for a latch. Overall, we had a great time! Thank you 🥰Haiden H.

55I’ve been using this SniffSpot for the better part of a year. It is dog paradise. A giant field + beach free of off leash dogs and their irresponsible owners is genuinely a dream come true. We will continue to use this spot for as long as Jessica allows. 11/10 stars!!!!! Olivia G.

55Great drive out and scenery. Saw kingfisher and egret and other birds. The path along the river is the brushed out route that parallels the road with occasional view of the river. Alternately you can walk the muddy riverbank if the tide is low enough (I don’t know how high it gets and how much is submerged). It was slippery and it would be easy to fall. If your dog is curious and might run up to the road like mine did I recommend a leash. I wore water shoes but I think mud boots like xtratufs would have been better. If you do this plan on bringing something to get the mud off your pups and you. I was warned by host that there may be green algae in the area so I should be careful about my dog drinking the water. As I understand it dogs can go into respiratory distress and die if they are exposed.
After walking along the river we didn’t have much time for anything else. Walking through the field looked fun but hot in summer. No fence and there is a surprising amount of traffic for the end of the road so I would be nervous to have mine run off-leash.Marianne A.

55Heaven for dogs. We couldn’t use the the River because of the toxic algae bloom upstream which should clear up in a few weeks. Even still, it was great, just remember to bring water for your pupAna A.

FAQ about our Kalama dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 97% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Kalama area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 104 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 25 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
