Rice Creek Sniffspot

A large, open 1.25 acre fenced in yard with multiple small hills that is bordered on the west side by a public walking trail (with 6 foot fence) and on the north side by Rice Creek (with 5 foot fence). Note that the creek is not directly accessible from the Sniffspot. During the winter months, deer and foxes pass just outside of the fenced in yard, while in warmer months the creek entices additional wildlife as well as the occasional canoeist or kayak. Agility equipment pictured are available during the warmer months and are not available in the winter. There's abundant street parking as we are located at a dead-end. Please do not park in the driveway. Enter the yard using the gate located to the left of the garage.

This is a great little spot with alot of privacy once you are down the hill by the river. There is an open field for the dogs to run and play catch with a mix of grass and sand, There are multiple spots where the dogs and people can get into the water if you wish . I also have a picnic table and some chairs down there to sit and relax at , it is very peaceful and private. I also offer overnight camping for guests for 100 a night , I have a nice large lodge style tent set up overlooking the river , there is a grill picnic table , firepit a couple fishing poles or you could always bring your own. I also have kayaks and a canoe available for rent also.

If you book 24+ hours in advance I can squeeze in an extra poo pickup before work. - *WINTER I pick up weekly, weather-permitting, so might NOT be a great spot for pups who eat poopsicles--you know who you are! 💩 ❄️ 🐶 🍨🍦 limited daylight and full time hospital work hours (I go to work and come home in the dark)

LongTail Adventures (fearful & reactive dog friendly!)

**Formerly Pink Pitbull Club** We used to bring our dogs here to Pink Pitbull Club, and when the opportunity to buy came along we jumped on it. We have one reactive girl who has just loved having a huge yard to play and not worry about other people and dogs, I'm sure your pups will love it as well! The front gate is remotely controlled to let guests in, and a button on the inside of the gate for whenever you need to leave. There is a doorbell camera set up for when you arrive, just ring the bell, I'll say hello and let you in :). There's an additional doorbell camera right on the inside of the gate in case you need anything during your visit. I'm happy to chat on the app for any folks that are Deaf/HOH to get in or need help. The yard is 5ft fence with a privacy screen. There are trees and shrubs for your pups to sniff and explore, as well as a wide open lawn perfect for fetch. There are parkour options and a ball pit in the back of the yard and a toy box up near the gate. For summer, we've got some water options to keep your pups cool - a kiddie pool and splash pad, as well as the hose with a mister attachment! Towels provided to dry off before you leave.

Welcome to Maplewood Farm Dog Retreat -- a peaceful 5-acre nature escape in south Maplewood near Battle Creek, just minutes from I-94 & McKnight. This is still undeveloped farmland tucked into the suburbs, with rolling hills, mature trees, wooded trails, open field space, wildlife sightings and scents (ton of bunnies!), and a very different feel from a typical backyard spot. Dogs get room to run, sniff, explore, and decompress away from crowded dog parks. For history buffs, the property also has the only standing barn in Maplewood, built in 1896, still in its original form and in use. It’s also an escape for hoomans -- a quiet place to breathe, be alone with nature, bring family for a simple picnic, or just sit under the trees while your pup explores. Peaceful and private, but still only minutes from St. Paul. Think of it as a little respite from busy life. There’s even an apple tree, which adds to the old farm feel. You can book this spot two ways: Quick 30-min visits are great for dogs who just need to burn energy fast. The fenced play area is easy to access near the street, and parking is right next to the gate, so it’s quick to get in, let your pup run, play fetch, do zoomies, and head out. For 30-min visits, please use the fenced play area only. Water play is not included, and I usually won’t come out to greet you so you can make the most of your time. For the full Maplewood Farm experience, I recommend booking 1-2 hours. That gives you time to enjoy the fenced play area plus a slower long-leash walk around the block-long property, full of wildlife scents, wooded trails, scenic views, open field space, nooks and crannies, and peaceful places to take in nature. The main fenced play area is approx. 60 ft x 100 ft and is great for off-leash play, fetch, zoomies, tug with the spring pole, and burning off energy. For longer visits, there is also a self-serve water-play area with a splash pad and overhead sprinkler/mister, plus a sprayer if you want to rinse or bathe your pup on the grass. For longer visits, a good route usually starts in the fenced area, then continues through the back gate into the wooded trail system. You can loop toward the house and barn (you may hear my dogs bark), continue through the mature forest trail, use the runner trolley system for semi-free roaming, then circle back toward the open field. Signs are posted to help guide you. This is a natural, dog-friendly space, not a suburban yard. Dogs are welcome to explore, climb on log and wood chip piles, chew or pull on tree branches, sniff around, dig in appropriate natural areas, and enjoy the property in whatever way feels safe and appropriate to you. I’m not precious about the landscape here, esp since the property may be developed next year. While it’s still here, I want our furry friends to have it and enjoy it. Foster dogs and dogs with physical or sensory challenges are welcome to visit for a steep discount -- I’d love for them to enjoy this space too, just message me before booking. Since I live and work on-site, the spot is open pretty much anytime, from early morning to late evening, so you can book around your dog’s energy, the weather, or your own schedule. There is a barbed-wire fence marking the property line around the property, however it is not fully-fenced.
