Wonderlane

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 65-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, and open areas for ball throwing. 8 or 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far right and left over a bluff that winds around, to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. At the very bottom, the trails lead to a creek, on the left. The property is partially fenced and has natural obstacles. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, and a cliff to the creek on the other. The steep hill above the creek and dense brush provide a natural boundary, except for the most adventuresome dogs and their physically fit friends. Bring more than one dog, if possible, because they love to chase each other around the circles. This forest was clear-cut between 65 to 100 years ago and not replanted. So we replanted it with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, and Pacific Northwest duff with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared it as a Sniffspot for dogs. The lower part that connects to the creek area is not fenced. Rarely seen are animals in the forest, occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, mice, raccoons, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds may be seen such as starlings, chickadees, woodpeckers, hawks, and American Bald Eagles. There are moles thus mole holes because it is a delightfully rugged private area so you must be careful where you step until you get used to the signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths. Especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest 1 mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. Garbage is available on the way out under the Bigleaf Maple tree at the driveway in the large green bin marked "Garbage". The Southeast corner of this Sniffspot where the creek is down a steep embankment, also is part of the property, but descending the steep area is not advisable unless you are fit and feel capable of the climb down and up. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it! We continue to work with Mayor Jim Ferrell and his Code Compliance team on the problem regarding the trash strewn on the owner/developer's land comprising most of Lakota Creek Basin. The landowner has set the clean-up start date the week of February 19, 2024. 9The developer has a land plat proposal and variance before the city, so cleaning shows good intent even if it took 8 years.) Hope you can visit and enjoy it soon! 2 Starbucks less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms available there). Bigfoot Java is at 4627 SW 320th St. (no bathroom but open 24x7) Join us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556216197208 or search "Wonderlane World Famous Sniffspot" :-) P.S. If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may wish keep your pup leashed until you are safely at the top of the path. When departing, on either side of the trails, at the top you can pause to leash your dog if you wish. The Sniffspot trails do not interact with the house area.

Coolest Yard in Seattle!

NOTE: WEEKEND OF AUGUST 11TH, MY NEIGHBORS ARE HAVING A FAMILY REUNION. THERE ARE LARGE TENTS IN THE YARD. THERE WILL BE LOTS OF FOOT TRAFFIC AND NOISE COMING FROM NEXT DOOR. IF YOUR DOG IS SENSITIVE TO THOSE THINGS, PLEASE SKIP THIS WEEKEND. IF YOU DO BOOK AND PARKING IS DIFFICULT, YOURE WELCOME TO USE MY DRIVEWAY. Welcome to the coolest yard in Seattle! We have an agility course with a balance beam, an a-frame, weave poles and and a things for your dog to crawl under! Chuck It with TONS of tennis balls? Yup! Water cannons and a pool for your dogs? Check! A tug toy that you don't have to hold? Absolutely! Frisbee? We even got those! A platform for pictures? Why not! We've even got a shade tent for your pup! A bucket of sticks? If your dog is into that kinda thing! For the people? A cool and shaded patio with chairs and a table under the gorgeous trees in our yard! You're welcome to walk in the pool or climb the agility course 🤣 This backyard is made for the dogs! It's a quarter acre and completely fenced around the perimeter. If my Malinois can't escape, I doubt your dog can 🤣 There is one neighbor dog but he's very quiet and doesn't bark or bother my dogs when they're out! He hasn't bothered any of the sniffspot guests either. His name is Theo and he's a good boy that might come up to the fence. Don't worry, there's no gaps for him to say hello! We're conveniently located right off Aurora, near the Costco! Our neighborhood is very quiet! There is parking available off the street in a designated spot. It's shown in the pictures. It's a rocky parking spot. We have waters, sodas and some snacks available for the humans! Just let me know before you arrive and I'll put them on the table under the shade trees. Speaking of the beautiful shade trees! Those glorious things keep that area nice and cool! There will be a small table for your belongings and a couple of chairs to sit in! On the left side of the yard, near the house, are some obnoxious blackberry bushes that keep coming back no matter what I do. I think they grow from the neighbors side. We put up a privacy screen that's done well at keeping the dogs away from that area. While you're here, my personal dogs will be kept in the master bedroom and they're quiet! We hope your dog enjoys the yard as much as mine do! **Note about the pools: they are not dumped and cleaned between guests. That would be a huge waste of resources. We try to be as eco-friendly as possible! They are skimmed and vacuumed between guests though! The vacuuming does filter in fresh water. When you arrive, there may be some dirt settled at the bottom but the dogs don't care lol

December 2020
The space was super secure for Lily the Wonder Foster. Completely fenced in backyard, Lily was able to run until tired (about an hour) without a worry of seeing another dog. My friend and I were able to be physically distanced and chat while I threw the ball over and over again. There's a hedge that creates a cover from the rain (it rained on us for the first 30 minutes). I look forward to booking again.

Cozy, secure sniffspot, worked great for a quick afternoon romp for us. Friendly host, covered pergola with chairs to hang out on, and a box of toys to pick from. My pups' favorite part was hunting for tennis balls along the little path behind the shrubbery!

There was a mixup in the reservation system. I didn't go to this visit but the host & I communicated after I realized what happened.

Wonderful, safe space with toys, fresh water, and even a cabana in case the human participants want to stay out of the rain. One of my pup’s favorite spots!

This was our first time using SniffSpot and we loved it! The yard was clean and well lit. Lots of toys to choose from. My dog has never been a big fan of fetch but for some reason he loved it here. Will definitely come back.

FAQ about our Bainbridge Island dog parks

Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 96% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Bainbridge Island area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 212 fully fenced dog parks in the area.
