History of our Sniffspot: “Millie “ was an English cream Golden Retriever from the famous Kyon Kennels in Orangeville Ontario . She was the sweetest family dog ever, and was even an extra on the original “Pupstar “ . Millie was also an adventurer and an escape artist extraordinaire ! .In her Diva way she demanded that we fence off a few of the bigger areas on our farm so she could safely roam off leash and have friends over . Millie enjoyed her ‘personal park’ for much of her 14 years here, and asked if we could continue sharing it with other doggie friends and their people once she passes. Millie passed peacefully at the age of 14 on Aug 12 2026. Description: “Millie’s spot” is Located in a a rural residential area just steps off the Galloping Goose Trail. We are up on scenic hillside close to Saseenos vet. Ours is the corner property on Gladys and Ludlow Rd. The entrance to the farm and Millie’s spot is actually on Ludlow road on the left just past the Gladys turn off across from Arleigh Place . We are on approx 2 acres of tiered landscaped property that is accessible with landscape stairs with railings to and from the designated Sniffspot areas . (Caution and good mobility is required on the hilly bits. ). The off leash Sniffspot area is approx .75 of an acre and comprised of a fully fenced 50x150 foot horse riding ring with firm style sand base, and another fully fenced horse paddock and picnic sitting area. Fencing is mainly with 4-5 foot post and rail horse fencing with 3-4 foot of mesh between. The fencing is best for dogs that aren’t big climbers or jumpers. There are both flat and hilly areas for dogs to run and explore . A great work out for both humans and dogs ! Sit up in the picnic area and toss the ball or frisbee down into the riding ring for an extra energy burning hill fetch run! Raining ? Or Hot weather ? Several Tree canopies of willows and cedars will keep you cool in summer and dry during a gentle rain . We also have a small overhang areas here and there . The of the footing is gravel, pea gravel or sand so mud is pretty minimal . The riding ring is professionally built with drainage , a sub base and sand over top . During a big rain the water sits on top and forms shalllow puddles but they drain out fairly quickly , dogs tend to love the puddles but they won’t get muddy. Agility ? The riding ring is a perfect venue if you want to do an agility training course! , You are welcome to bring your own equipment with the possibility to store it here if you book a series of visits in advance :) What to bring, the basics : Please Bring your own toys, poop bags and water, plus good walking shoes for the hill to and from the play areas. Sorry no washroom available, but Daniel’s market is just down the road . BASIC RULES 1. Leash your dog to and from the assigned off leash area 2. NO DIGGING ! Please DO NOT allow dogs to dig anywhere on the property , including the sandy spots, as we have horses using the spot as well. 3. Bring your own poop bags , and Take your dog's waste with you when you leave please. 4. Park at the foot of the driveway, or on the street only, do not attempt to drive in as the gravel is very loose. 5. Close any gates you open before you leave. Also Of note: We do share a property line with a neighbouring farm with 2 dogs ,chickens and small children. You will hear the dogs and children when they are in their yard , Our spot may not ideal if your dog is highly reactive to noise or potentially aggressive . The field is spacious, grassy, and fully enclosed, making it ideal for exercise, training, or simply letting your dog stretch their legs. Easy parking is available right at the entrance for convenient access. While the field is visible from the road, there are no visible animals nearby, making it a calm and distraction-free space for most dogs. Neighbourhood note: A Department of National Defence rifle range operates nearby on Wallace Drive, and occasional training sounds may sometimes be heard. Our dogs, farm animals, and most visiting dogs are comfortable with this environment, but very noise-sensitive dogs may find this challenging. Bathroom available on site is now located in an outhouse close to where you park your car. Please let us know if it needs cleaning it is checked throughout the day. SMOKE FREE ZONE. Pick up after dogs, garbage bin provided. There is a barn hose if you need water text or call glenn 2508962860. There are a few seniors visiting with mobility issues which is taken into consideration when there is poop left behind. You can always message me and let me know a general area and I can try to run out and pick it up between the next visit. There are some small gaps in the fence, so this is a great spot for large and medium sized dogs. Not a spot recommended for small dogs. Please keep dogs leashed until you are in the designated enclosed area. There is a 30 minute gap between bookings so you dont run into a dog leaving the field. Your reservation gives you exclusive use of the fenced dog field for the duration of your booking. 🐾 WHAT YOUR VISIT INCLUDES 🌿 A fully fenced private dog field 🐕 Open grass with space to run and explore 🌳 Mature trees and natural shade 💧 Self-serve drinking water and clean dog bowls 🚿 A hose and seasonal kiddie pools 🎾 Washable dog toys and ball launchers ⛺ Covered seating for two when weather permits 🪑 A small side table 💩 Poop bags, pooper scoopers and a marked waste bin 🚗 Off-street parking 🚪 Independent exterior entry 🌿 ABOUT THE PROPERTY Our field is part of a former horse property. It is spacious, rustic, natural and real—not a manicured city dog park. The main play area is grassy and open. Blackberry bushes and prickly vegetation grow around some outer edges, so please supervise dogs that like to push into brush. The ground is natural and may be uneven, wet or slippery following rain. Fallen branches, wildlife and other normal outdoor conditions may occasionally be present. 🐦🐿️ The lowest fencing is approximately 4 feet high. This field may not be suitable for dogs that can jump, climb or escape over a 4-foot fence. 👀 PRIVACY AND DISTRACTIONS Our family dogs do not enter the Sniffspot field during confirmed reservations. They may occasionally be seen or heard from our separate family yard or house. Dogs, people, cyclists, vehicles and other animals may also sometimes be seen or heard outside the property. This is a good option for dogs that benefit from private space but can tolerate occasional sights and sounds. It is not a completely visually or audibly isolated location. 💧 SELF-SERVE AMENITIES The water, pool, toy, waste and seating areas are self-serve. Please use what you need and leave each station ready for the next guest. 💛 Before leaving: ✅ Pick up all dog waste ✅ Empty and return any pool used ✅ Empty water bowls and place used bowls in the USED BOWLS container ✅ Return toys and ball launchers to the toy drying station ✅ Place wet or muddy toys in the USED TOYS basket ✅ Replace the seating cover ✅ Close and latch every gate Please leave the field ready for the next dog. 🐾 🌧️ SEASONAL AVAILABILITY This is a seasonal outdoor field. We stay open as long as the ground is firm and conditions allow. We typically pause bookings sometime in October or November when sustained rain leaves the field saturated, muddy or at risk of damage. We normally reopen around March once the ground has drained, the grass has recovered and the field is firm enough for dogs to run safely. The exact closing and reopening dates change from year to year based on rainfall, drainage and field conditions.
